New Moon in Taurus 2026. Craft Change.

Everything has changed and everything will continue to change. So… where can you exercise your own choices? That’s the energy of this weekend’s New Moon in Taurus. Occurring on May 16, 2026 at 1:00PM Pacific Daylight Time (UTC -7), this lunation is a breath of fresh air after more than a month of high energy and tension brought on not only by Mars and Saturn being conjoined in Aries, but also with Uranus finally moving out of Taurus, where it’s been since 2018.

That’s right, this is the first New Moon in Taurus in eight years that has not been marked by the rebellious earth-shaker. If the current geopolitical conflicts and economic strife have been any indicator, we are all clearly going through a time™️.

But as I said earlier, where can you exercise your own choices? What is in your control?

Yesterday, on the 14th, there was a Mercury Cazimi, wherein Mercury was directly within the heart of the Sun. Planets in cazimi are said to be purified by the Sun’s rays, which allows their powers to function clearly. This is particularly true now that Uranus is no longer questioning everything Taurean (and any placements you may have here). So, when the messenger of the gods is placed in the sun’s center, this likely would have brought in a flood of new information or a sharper desire to learn more about whatever has been piquing your interest. This is a crystalline kind of clarity– sharp and prismatic… which doesn’t necessarily translate to motivation. Knowing more doesn’t always mean you feel emotionally compelled to take action.

But this New Moon might help with that. In Taurus, the sign of her exaltation, the Moon feels resourced and supported. She feels like she has what she needs. Then, with Venus, the ruler of Taurus, still in Gemini (one of Mercury’s signs), there’s a good chance that whatever cerebral understanding came through during the cazimi will feel more embodied.

When mind and body are aligned, choices feel easier.

To figure out where to pull from, I’ve got some cards from my “Refract & Reflect Oracle” that may help.

As always, please read for your rising sign if you know it! Otherwise, your Sun, Moon, and any other loud placement will still have some wisdom for you!

Aries: armor

If you have any new projects you’d like to pursue, use this New Moon (and the days that follow) to take inventory of what you currently have, both in terms of tangible materials and your current skills. This means reviewing your financials, going through your closets and drawers, and taking stock of what you already know so that you don’t spend time or money on anything extraneous.

Taurus: flow

With Uranus finally out of your sign, this New Moon has the chance to feel incredibly freeing, especially in terms of how you see and present yourself. Allow yourself to feel this refreshment. Do you remember how you saw yourself before 2018 (before Uranus entered Taurus)? Can you see a through-line between then and now? What held true for you and what has since been washed away? If that’s too much to think about this weekend, at the very least, use this new moon to examine your relationship with the concept of ease.

Gemini: rage

This new moon, I invite you to honor your anger so that you can put it to rest. Acknowledge whatever frustration and bitterness have been coming up for you, especially if it’s rooted in the past and long gone (and likely to stay gone). Journal it out, speak it aloud (maybe even to a trusted friend?), just do something other than ruminating on it. I also want you to remember that your rage is honest and real and you don’t have to be ashamed for feeling the way you do. It’s what you do with those feelings that matters from here on out.

Cancer: teacher

If you can, use this new moon in Taurus to be social (this is especially true if you are NOT a social creature). Give your friends and network a chance to help you. Whatever inklings you had lately, consult someone in your circle first. You don’t have to ask for help outright if that feels awkward, but broach the subject with people. And be open to unconventional wisdom!

Leo: cleanse

This new moon, you will benefit from a deep spring cleaning, especially regarding your work and passion projects. Make sure your workspace, desk, and drawers are clean and conducive to work and creation. Even if you’re not looking for a new job, refine your portfolio, social media profiles, and resumé too. Remove or reframe things so that they are more reflective of what you actually want. Reclaim how you’ve been seen and what you’re leaving behind in this world.

Virgo: scoundrel

Curiously enough, this is a repeat from last month for you! However, while last month was more about taking ownership of being the villain in the story, this one feels less heavy. This time, it feels more like acknowledging a sense of fun recklessness within you. More about irresponsibility than offensiveness. Now, I’m not saying go wild! But. I am inviting you to consider whether you’d benefit from loosening up this month. Are you in need of some inconsequential fun? Consider cancelling some plans that feel stodgy and allow yourself to be the opposite of the Virgo stereotype. Let the winds take you somewhere more fun, at least for a few days. Maybe binge-watch a show instead of doing your laundry. Or, gas prices permitting, take a trip a few towns over and just explore downtown. Have FUN.

Libra: sacred space

For you, Libra, this new moon is for rearranging the furniture. Our environments affect us so much, and if the energy is stale, it’s going to hinder our ability to grow and thrive. If you can, consider literally moving things around to refresh the space so that you can bring in some newness. If the layout is too good to be messed with, then at least look into the bookshelves, closets, and pantries. Get rid of what no longer serves you! If you’ve been living the minimalist lifestyle, then maybe it’s time for a [new] houseplant?

Scorpio: influence

Never discount how influential your presence is in people’s lives. You matter. Your words and actions have changed other people, even if they never express that. So, this new moon, I want you to think about who you’ve been spending your time and energy on. How do those people make you feel? Do you want to keep feeling that way with them? You don’t have to keep repeating a cycle if you don’t want to. I know, it’s easier said than done, it starts by saying the truth to yourself.

Sagittarius: mend

It’s no secret that “wealth” is a big part of Taurean ideals and, although I risk sounding too much like my mother… health is wealth. This new moon, please tend to your body and its needs. This may look like refining your exercise and diet regimen (remember: nutritionists do not have the same training or licensure regulations as dieticians!) or it may look like making that medical appointment you’ve been putting off. It could also look like committing to fixing your sleeping habits (sleep debt is real!). Don’t neglect your physical needs!

Capricorn: movement

Similar to what Sagittarians are dealing with, for you, Capricorn, this new moon in Taurus also wants you to get in your body. However, while theirs is more about physical care and repair, yours is more about fun and pleasure. Dance, stretch, hike, explore– be in your body and experience what the world has to offer your senses. Movement also applies to whatever creative pursuits you have; it’s time to play around with what you’ve been crafting. Don’t be too precious about the process that you end up procrastinating and getting stuck in the “idea” stage. Move and get messy!

Aquarius: witch

What do you know of your lineage and ancestors? And I don’t strictly mean blood relations only. What do you know about your community, your mentors, and your teachers? What do you know about the land on which you live? Or even just the physical place you currently reside? There’s magic still living in the histories and stories of what’s preceded us. Knowing your histories (whether it’s the connections you have by blood or by choice) can give you so much power to make future decisions. A few questions and some research can yield some amazing opportunities you didn’t know you had.

Pisces: delays

The… sturdiness and obstinacy of Taurus can sometimes make things feel slow going, which can be frustrating, especially if you feel like things aren’t changing fast enough! However, Taurus can also bring some explosiveness if we’re not careful (think: a bull in a china shop). This new moon, I invite you to move slower and more intentionally with all the things you do on autopilot. Look at your routine and really live in the repetitive motions instead of just going through them. Change them if need be. Mindfulness and presence aren’t just buzzwords, they can make a real impact on how we interact with life.

May this New Moon in Taurus intertwine your insights and desires in a way that gives you strength in the weeks ahead. 💐
