New Moon in Pisces 2026. Sailing Through Uncharted Waters.

Today on March 18, 2026, at 6:38pm Pacific Daylight Time (UTC-7), we have a New Moon in Pisces. This is one I’m particularly excited about, as it’s the first Pisces lunation since 2024 that’s not an eclipse!

Yes, it’s true. Since then, the new and full moons of Pisces have been colored by the uncertainty that comes with contact with the lunar nodes. Lady Luna’s light has been obscured by turbulent waves and stormy skies. For those like me, who have personal placements in Pisces, the past two years have probably been very… unexpected (both positively and negatively).

So, this is finally a breath of fresh air, but in a “plunging up out of the sea after swimming underwater for who knows how long” kind of way. We get a flash of clarity and cleansing this new moon, as well as for the days afterward, given that the equinox follows at its heels AND Mercury goes direct as well.

Remember, Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac. They close out the cycle. There are also many planets in Aries, so we have a simultaneous energy of initiating and concluding. However, keep this in mind: we also have Jupiter, the planet that rules this new moon, squaring Venus and trining Mars, so our optimism and enthusiasm for change must be anchored by our values

Make sure whatever it is you’re eager to move on aligns with what’s ultimately best for you, those you love, and the world you want to create in the future. Don’t change things up simply for the sake of change.

The cards I pulled for us absolutely echo that a need to refresh yourself and the waters in which you swim. The activities mentioned are merely suggestions, and you can do them anytime between now and the full moon in two weeks. As the saying goes, “take what you need and leave the rest.

(Once again, the featured deck is my “Refract and Reflect Oracle,” which is actually getting a bit of a refresh. More details in the weeks to come!)

As always, it’s ideal to read for your rising sign (if you know it), but your Sun and Moon will also have wisdom for you as well. If you have more than three planets in a sign, you may feel called towards that one too! Sail around the signs as you see fit!

Aries: softness

With Mercury Rx wrapping up, the fog will clear a little around all the things that you wanted to chase after. However, you don’t have to go from 0 to 100 mph (or km!) right away. Take the time to warm up and ease into whatever spring goals you have in mind. Break down your goals into manageable, actionable tasks. Your season awaits, and it will benefit from you exercising moderation. Try some box breathing meditation, and/or a little nerve flossing/gliding mobility exercises in the morning. Be in your body first before you meet the day.

Taurus: influence

You have more sway than you realize. This Pisces New Moon, if your social life has felt dull or staid, don’t be afraid to take the reins. Reach out to those you’re actually eager to hear from and set up plans for activities that light you up. Throw a little party if you’re feeling up to it! If you have past hurt from initiating and getting nothing back, start with your trusted circle. A small, sincere gathering (of even just two people!) is better than a superficial shindig.

Gemini: patience

Things take as long as they need to take. There are elements out of our control all the time, and whatever it is that you’re eager to make progress on will have to wait. You can paddle as hard as you want, but if the conditions are stormy up ahead, you’re just going to exhaust yourself. Find a way to make this waiting game bearable: revisit that craft project, pick up any one of the books you’ve already started reading, or just clean your house.

Cancer: lies

If the past few weeks of Mercury Retrograde and eclipse season have caused a major conflict and/or communication faux pas, this new moon will give you a chance to untangle some of it. If you get a hunch about something, no matter how random it may be, follow those clues! Don’t be afraid to learn the truth of the matter. And if you are afraid, ask yourself, “Why?” Note, uncovering new evidence may or may not lead to a resolution. However, that’s not the point: the priority here, right now, is understanding.

Leo: nocturnes

Let yourself get a little witchy (or witchier!) this new moon and equinox. This doesn’t have to be elaborate: it could be as simple as taking an intentional, cleansing shower where you envision the past year’s muck washing off of you. Or you could light a candle and meditate on the flame as it dances for 10 minutes (or even longer!). You could brew some mugwort tea, light incense, and free write a letter to yourself, as your future self, telling the present!you all the things that you’ve accomplished by the end of the year. Listen to your intuition and whatever song it’s trying to play for you. You are all the magic you need.

Virgo: longing

This new moon in Pisces will likely feel like peak!Pisces for you, full of yearning and wonderment. If the eclipse season and/or Mercury Retrograde have thrown a wrench in your plans, return to the heart of the matter. What is it that you want? Why do you want it? Is it actually in jeopardy or are you just getting antsy? Honor the hurt of feeling like the goalpost has moved further away, then dive past that, and remember the richness and vibrance of your desire. It’s still there. You haven’t lost that.

Libra: play

The daily grind isn’t called that for nothing. Don’t let work chip away at you, though. This Pisces New Moon, find ways to inject more play and leisure into your life. Move your body in ways that feel good to you: do some chill yoga or dance around your living room. Revisit a hobby or try out a new one! Or, be more formal about it and sign up for a class! Whatever you do, let yourself have fun. If you’re trying something new, let yourself make mistakes! Let yourself be a beginner!

Scorpio: witch

Craft is craft. If you’ve been denying your creative side lately, this new moon in Pisces gives you a chance to wade back into those waters. Whether it’s painting, sculpture, paper crafts, cooking, or talisman making, honor your creativity. Additionally, schedule more time, beyond this new moon, for these kinds of explorations. It doesn’t have to be a big commitment; schedule at least 15 minutes a week to do something intentionally creative and creativity-fueling. IMO, Venus and Mercury days (aka Fridays and Wednesdays) are great for this, but if your schedule only allows for the weekend, choose those!

Sagittarius: burning bridges

I’m sure you’re familiar with the common stereotype that Sagittarians are commitment-phobic. But, like all astrological stereotypes, that’s just a bastardization of the truth. The reality is that the archer has an easier time disconnecting from things because they know there’s so much more out there. They may not know what exactly, but it’s that mystery that keeps it alluring. It’s not about being tethered to the present, it’s about the possibilities! If you’ve been feeling weighed down lately, let this new moon and equinox cut those ties. Tap back into that Sagittarian sense of freedom and roam a little more freely. Maybe this looks like a mass decluttering. Maybe this looks like doing some sort of releasing ritual. Maybe it’s just about seeing yourself in a new light. Whatever it is, don’t let the past hold you back.

Capricorn: ruminating

The astrology of the past few months has definitely added to and exacerbated an onslaught of delays and confusion for all of us. Our daily routines, if they could even resemble regularity, have been a small touchstone to keep on keeping on. However, doing something over and over again can keep us in circles. This new moon and equinox, I encourage you to shake up that routine, just a little. I know I mentioned not changing just for the sake of changing, but you’re the exception to the rule (and I trust your discernment!). You can pare it down or add something new to the mix, but just breathe in something new. Even a beautiful rosebush will benefit from a little pruning.

Aquarius: illuminate

Seeing things from a different and unconventional perspective is nothing new to you, and this new moon in Pisces requests you do it once again, particularly in the realm of your resources. I mean this both materially and emotionally. What do you have right now? Do you feel like it’s enough? What does “enough” feel like to you, especially in terms of emotional needs? What can do with what you have right now? More traditionally, this is also a great time to check in with your bank account(s), debts, investments, etc.

Pisces: masks

A new moon in your first house means you get to fully reinvent yourself, if you want to, that is. With the equinox too, there’s a brightness too: so many possibilities to clear away what no longer feels like you. If you’ve been meaning to redefine your identity, this weekend is a beautiful chance to do so. This could look like: wearing a color you don’t normally wear; adding an accessory to a jacket or bag (love a little brooch or keychain charm!); parting your hair to the other side; or describing yourself differently (e.g. when introducing yourself in person, or maybe via your online bios). Consider how you’ve been carrying yourself and lighten the load appropriately.

May the tides of this new moon in Pisces take you somewhere refreshing, revitalizing, and renewing.
