New Moon in Gemini 2024 tarotscopes / Expansion & Ambition

This morning, around 5:37am Pacific Time, we had a new moon in Gemini. With Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, and of course, the Sun, already there, this new moon holds a lot of the quintessential curiosity and chattiness of the Twins. However, they’re also squaring Saturn in Pisces, while Mars in Aries squares Pluto in Aquarius.

As I wrote in the Knave Arcade discord earlier this week: the TDLR; is to sift through all the exciting stuff and choose the ones that will be the most transformative and beneficial in the long term. There’s a lot of information, some of which is exciting and maybe even a little scary! Some of it is just overwhelmingly extensive. Gemini is a chatterbox that doesn’t like being boxed in. This new moon wants to roam and work the room. There’s a sense of conceptual expansiveness and the cards reflect that kind of scale too.

We have to balance what we’re capable of with what we can imagine. But we also have to expand what we imagine we’re capable of.

This particular new moon in Gemini gives us a chance to lean into curiosity in a way the previous ones haven’t. Give yourself a chance to believe in a new you. That doesn’t necessarily mean you have to take the boldest, wildest actionsโ€ฆ but you will benefit from imagining more for yourself than you have in the past.

And reframing your sense of self may be more radical than anything else you’ve done recently. That could be the acorn that grows into an oak.

The long game is thematically relevant and shown in the cards. There were so many Major Arcana cards, which not only denote big themes but also longer time frames. With Jupiter continuing in this sign through next year until June 2025, you have an opportunity to explore all the expansiveness it wants to show you.

These cards show that ambitions, materiality, and long-term visions are the focus. We don’t have a cup card! So, this new moon in Gemini isn’t really about our relationships and daily emotions. Or rather, those aren’t the things that we should be using to guide us right now.

Although all of that sounds serious (and I want you to take it seriously), this is still a very playful new moon. To honor that, I’ve chosen the Pasta Tarot. Full of pop culture references and queer icons, it was the perfect deck to play up what could a[n over]stimulating lunation. It’s light-hearted, fun, and flirty. And of course, it’s Pride Month, babyyy.

(This deck gives a culinary update to the names of the suits. Wands is Corta, Cups is Ripiena, Swords is Lunga, and Pentacles is Minuta.)

As always, these are meant for your rising sign (if you know it), but you’ll still benefit from reading for your Sun, Moon, and any other prominent placement.

Aries. 10 of Corta.

If you’ve been feeling the weight of a million projects, it’s time to lighten the load. Things are starting to get messy anyway. And if you can’t get rid of stuff, at least delegate parts of it to others. What no longer feels fun? What just feels like work? Don’t discount the value of asking for help, especially from someone in your immediate circle. A well-worded message can do wonders.

Taurus. 6 of Corta.

This new moon in Gemini is a great chance to celebrate yourself, especially in matters of your career and money. What have you achieved? What skills or wins have others been acknowledging? And, more importantly, do you believe them? If you haven’t given yourself yourself your due, now’s the time. Buy yourself the flowers! Celebrate the wins and don’t qualify them.

Gemini. 7 of Minuta.

It’s your month, gorgeous Gemini! However, before you start to reassert (or reinvent) yourself, sit down and review what you’ve done thus far. You’ve done a lot of work and tried new recipes. So, what’s worked for you? What hasn’t worked? What have you done and learned that you want to take with you through this next year? With Jupiter in your sign, your sense of self, sense of style, and how people see you are all ripe for newness. Don’t let yourself be stifled by the past if it no longer serves you. That being said, you can take bits and pieces of the past that have worked for you to create something exponentially better than the previous iterations.

Cancer. Page of Corta (Rx).

As mentioned earlier, as exciting as this new moon can be, it’s a stone’s throw toward over-stimulation. If you’re finding yourself being pulled in multiple directions, step back, take a breath, and let your subconscious lead your choices. Don’t be afraid to rest! Dreams carry so much information too, but you gotta let them come to you.

Leo. The Pope.

If you find yourself itching to make new friends and feel a sense of community, it will require you to engage with others in earnest. Making friends and meeting new people as an adult can be difficult, but community events and group educational opportunities are tried and true options. Whether it’s a Pride party, a wedding, or even just a little wine-tasting class, a social situation with a purpose will help you warm up to others and vice versa.

Virgo. The High Priestess (Rx).

When you’re in a conundrum, sometimes, you have to wait for the answers to come to you. Or rather, you won’t find them in the conventional spaces or by pushing relentlessly. This is particularly true in terms of your career. Sometimes, the recipe for success is missing the right pinch of this and that. Or, what you’ve been having to work with isn’t what was promised. As much as this new moon is about the mind, your mind’s a part of your body, remember? Let yourself feel things and use those sensations as data.

Libra. 2 of Minuta.

There’s so much out there in the world to see and learn and explore, huh? Normally, I’d caution for moderation or restraint, but this energy is exciting. If you can sustain it, try to juggle it. Now, I’m not saying you should burn yourself out. What I AM saying is that if you’re spinning all the plates and you’re having fun and you’re in your groove, who am I to stop you? Enjoy the ride for now. You can rest after the weekend!! (But remember, if it’s not fun and you’re overthinking and feeling outta flow, let those things fall.

Scorpio. The World (Rx).

Despite all the information and stimulation, this new moon can leave you with a sense of listlessness and ennui. Do you feel like something’s missing? While you may not feel a sense of completion or closure or wholeness at the moment, it will pass eventually. You’re almost there, have faith. This particular lunation could reveal quite a bit, especially in matters that involve others and their resources, so keep your ears open to news that may [indirectly] affect you.

Sagittarius. 5 of Minuta (Rx).

Nurse your heartache, sweet Sagittarius. Things may not have been going your way lately, especially regarding some one-on-one interactions, but that’s okay. Right now, you’ve got permission to heal and tend to your wounds. With your ruling planet in Gemini for a year, you’re not going to miss out on Gemini-related opportunities and gifts. You just gotta slow down right now. Wounds heal, they just take time. If you have people in your corner whom you know you can trust, let them in and let them help you.

Capricorn. The Moon (Rx).

A card of confusion and mysteries, The Moon often serves as a warning that everything isn’t as it seems. That being said, illusory joys can still be joys, yeah? As Descartes wrote, “illusory joy is often worth more than genuine sorrow.” I think there’s value there, especially if the daily grind has been getting to you. If there’s one sign that can discern value, it’s you, conscientious Capricorn. You can enjoy the [day]dream without falling for it. I know you know you can’t stay there, so I’m not going to tell you to get your head out of the clouds. What I will say is, what is it about these hopes and dreams that keep pulling you in? Where can you find those good in your daily life?

Aquarius. Queen of Lunga.

Capricorn isn’t the only one who’ll need to exercise discernment. This lunation, you’ll be challenged to keep your wits about you in the face of countless pleasures, Aquarius. Bear this in mind for the next few weeks. However, while you can’t succumb to every temptation, you’re not meant to live an ascetic life. Try some new hobbies and/or kinks, but don’t break the bank getting every kit. Head to a new museum but do so during the discounted days. Dip your toe in without diving too deep. Choose wisely!

Pisces. Justice (Rx).

If you were hoping for something conclusive, especially in matters close to home, you may get news about it now. But the results may not be what you wantedโ€ฆ or deserve. But sometimes, depending on the matter, having a decision at all takes the weight off just enough. You have to ask yourself which values you are and are not willing to compromise on. This isn’t an easy feat, so take your time with it. Where have you been feeling stiffed, jilted, or betrayed? What does that bring up? When did those feelings first happen? What did you decide before? What would you change now?
